Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd tell the true story of a psychiatrist, who transforms a patient’s life for the better…before he takes over the job.
Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell have already proven that they can have a good collaboration with “Anchorman”, but it seems that their upcoming comedy project is on a more serious basis. The Shrink Next Door movie is based on the true story of how psychologist Dr. Isaac Hershkopf (Paul Rudd) for many years managed to infiltrate Marty Markowitz’s life, among other things, by moving into his house and taking over his business.
Now it is still unclear how much real action will be included in the new Apple TV + miniseries which itself describes the upcoming series as follows:
“Inspired by the true story of Marty and the psychiatrist who turned his life in the right direction…before he took charge. When he first met Dr. Ike, Marty just wanted to get better at setting boundaries. For 30 years, he’d learn all about them—and what It happens if they cross.”
In addition to Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell in the lead roles, we’ll also see Katherine Hahn (“WandaVision”) as Marty’s younger sister and Casey Wilson (“Black Monday”) as Ike’s wife. In other roles, actors Gable Swanlund, Sarayu Blue, Kesia Brooke and Mathew Trent Hunnicutt appeared. Georgia Pritchett (“Veep” and “Succession”) wrote the script while Michael Showalter (“The Big Sick”) and Jesse Peretz (“GLOW” and “Girls”) directed the eight episodes in total.
The first episode of “The Shrink Next Door” will be released on Apple TV+ on November 12.
