Volvo Trucks to supply 1,000 electric trucks to Holcim, the world’s largest supplier of construction materials. This is the truck manufacturer’s largest commercial order for electric trucks.
The first 130 electric trucks are scheduled to be delivered in 2023 and 2024. These are to go to France, Germany, Switzerland and Great Britain. The entire fleet of 1,000 electric trucks will continue to be delivered by Volvo Trucks until 2030.
– Long-term cooperation and a strong commitment to make a difference are key to reducing CO2 emissions. Martin Lundstedt, President and CEO of the Volvo Group, said in a press release: “I am very proud of the partnership we have developed with Holcim and the results we have achieved.
– Together with Volvo we are pleased to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in our European operations through electric transport and to achieve our goal of achieving 30 percent zero emissions in heavy trucks by 2030, says John Jenisch, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Holcim.
By replacing 1,000 existing Volvo FH diesel trucks with Volvo FH electric trucks that charge with green electricity, up to 50,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions can be saved each year.
