The British government has announced the equivalent of SEK 2,706,387,444 in funding for the decarbonisation of transport vehicles. Investment means the British Department for Transport (TFT) needs to innovate and create new jobs. Investment in zero-emission vehicles is broad and not just focused on electrification.
Government funds will be invested in four green projects to produce up to 370 zero-emission heavy-duty trucks. “Together with Innovate UK, around 57 refueling and charging stations will also be built, a key factor in providing critical infrastructure to help the transport sector reduce carbon emissions,” the DfT said.
says the DfT The fund will help businesses reduce their transport emissions while protecting them from delivery costs caused by changing petrol and diesel prices.
One of the companies Participating in the funding is Birmingham-based Voltempo, whose eFREIGHT 2030 project could create 200 new jobs by 2030. The company aims to provide Birmingham with one of the first charging centers for electric trucks, writes Trans.Information.
