Swedish defense and security company Saab has signed an additional contract with the British Ministry of Defense that builds on an earlier contract from April 2024. The company will now provide equipment and support to the British Army's training operations in Oman. Delivery in 2024-2025.
Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's business unit Dynamics, says the company is looking forward to supporting the British Army's training capabilities in the UK and internationally.
“Our systems have been developed with a focus on interoperability and what we are now delivering means the British Army can collaborate seamlessly with the Omani Army and other international partners,” says Corgan Johansson.
Realistic training situations
The order includes Saab's latest instrument live training system based on laser, radio and GPS technology. The computer recreates realistic training situations and generates measurement data for operations, which are then evaluated and analyzed.
NATO standard
The training system can be used internationally and is compatible with other systems of the same NATO standard. The system is to be part of the British Defense Force's existing tactical simulation capability. Saab has supplied military training equipment to the British Armed Forces for over 30 years.
