“The Sims 5” is underway | Movie Zen

After eight years with “The Sims 4” finally came the big news, Project Rene, the codename for the game that would become “The Sims 5”.

Maxis’ vice president of The Sims, Lindsay Pearson, has big plans for the upcoming game. Regarding the developer’s presentation, behind The Sims Summit, one has been shown preview What will be the next “Sims” game, we learned that the game will support single and co-op mode and will work across platforms.

The finds mostly touched on the technical side of the game, such as when it comes to building and decorating, there was no showing of the “Sims” themselves.

The preview showed a player furnishing a room, which looked very different from the current buy and build mode as in “The Sims 4.” In one example, the player was shown taking apart a bed to manually adjust the shape of the headboard and even change the texture of the textiles.

The sofa is decorated by choosing a pillow and then carefully adjusting it. It looks like we will be able to create very unique homes for our “Sims”.

Project Rene also makes the game’s build phase significantly more social, with the buy and build phase becoming a multiplayer feature for those willing to share their construction projects. Friends can enter the room and decorate it together, instead of having to use screen sharing for advice.

The build phase is also completely across platforms, during the preview a player was seen browsing through the furniture catalog on their phones to fill the room and then arranging all the details on their PC.

Lindsey Pearson confirmed that Maxis has never previewed a game early in development before, and that the developer will continue to share updates about Project Rene “for years to come.”

“The Sims 4” will continue to receive updates and two expansions are planned. In 2023, The Sims 4 will add children as well.

The developer is also planning to partner with CurseForge to support and facilitate in-game modding capabilities.

Fun and happy news with the new “The Sims” game, but it looks like there’s still a long way to go before it’s released, and until then, we can happily console ourselves with The Sims 4 for free.
