Today marks the start of the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. Over the course of four days, both old and new cars are driven in various competitions, where the so-called “hill climb” on a hill about 90 meters high is the most classic.
Polestar has had the opportunity to showcase prototypes and special editions like the Polestar 2 BST several times during Goodwood – and this year is no exception. The manufacturer has both the Polestar 3 electric SUV and a prototype of the upcoming Polestar 5 sedan on the floor. – We love showing our latest prototypes to the public at Goodwood. With production of the Polestar 3 now set to begin in the first quarter of 2024, it’s time for the model to drive up the famed hill for the first time, says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath.
Earlier this year it was announced that both the Polestar 3 and Volvo’s technically related EX90 electric SUV would be delayed until next year. Deliveries are now scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2024. Then there will be the official premiere of the Polestar 5 sedan. A prototype of the model, based on the Precept concept, was commissioned during last year’s Goodfood festival. Speed. We learned that the Polestar 5 gets a Swedish-made powertrain with an electric motor at each axle producing 650 kW or 884 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque.
The Polestar 5 uses an in-house developed platform with a chassis in epoxy-glued aluminium, which reduces weight and improves driving characteristics.
