The “Blizzard-inspired” RTS game Stormgate has reached its Kickstarter goal

With developers who worked on Starcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Red Alert 2 and more.

Frost Giant Studios is a developer that was established a few years ago, and now they have started developing it Kickstarter campaign In his first game: Storm Gate. It’s a real-time strategy game that they describe as “Blizzard’s next big RTS game.”

The campaign’s goal was a rather modest $100,000, simply because the project was already fully funded. The campaign is instead said to be a response to requests from fans to be able to purchase a physical collector’s edition and participate in beta testing. And of course it doesn’t hurt to get a little extra publicity either.

Anyway, the goal was reached in 15 minutes, and at the time of writing they have raised $943,000, equivalent to 9.9 million kroner, so there are 56 days left in the campaign.

One of the points they further emphasized is that the game should be responsive, and the Snowplay game engine should also include technology to optimize online game streaming with high latency. In addition to the various online modes, the game will also continuously add new missions and stories to the campaign.

The first beta test is expected to begin in February 2024 and the final game will be free to play.
