Sweden topped the EC qualifiers – national handball team

On Thursday, the groups for the European Championship 2024 qualifiers will be drawn, and it is now clear that Sweden is in the first seeding group for the draw. 31 teams are vying for the remaining 20 tickets for the tournament to be held in Switzerland, Hungary and Austria.

Next year’s EC will top the women’s side with 24 teams, and Sweden will find out on Thursday which teams they will face in the qualifiers.

The top two teams from eight groups and the top four from group three advance to the playoffs, where they join the three tournament hosts and defending champions Norway. Qualification is decided over three national team periods, with two matches each: in October, February/early March and April. However, Great Britain pulled out at short notice, leaving only three teams in one of the groups.

When the seeding groups were announced today, it is clear that Sweden is top and cannot be replaced by France, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Montenegro or Croatia in the qualifiers.

The draw will take place on Thursday (April 20) at 17.00 and will be telecast EHFTV.com And on Network light.
