The Institute for the World Economy in Kiel has done mapping that shows the trend has been ever downward since April.
In July, only about 1.5 billion euros in new aid was promised to Ukraine from Norway. According to the report, countries are now focusing instead on providing military support already promised, but are lagging behind on new promises.
– Europe’s arms shipments to Ukraine are decreasing, Ekaterina Repinskaya, head of the institute’s research, tells Sveriges Radio.
The United States and Great Britain have contributed the most
Christoph Trebesch, head of research at the institute, pointed out in the report that financial or military support does not cover Ukraine’s needs.
However, the company’s mapping does not include figures for August.
Estonia’s Ministry of Defense recently announced it would participate in a British-led training initiative for Ukrainian soldiers. Along with Germany, Estonia will also send a field hospital to Ukraine.
The survey showed that the US and the UK were the most reliable contributors in the last six months.
– America is way ahead of everyone else. They have provided 25 billion euros in military support, Repinskaya tells SR.
