French animation studio Cyber Group Studios is working on an animated series based on “Final Fantasy IX” in collaboration with game creators Square Enix.
In 2001, a Japanese role-playing game was released “Final Fantasy IX” To Playstation here in Sweden, a few months after the release of the next console Playstation 2.
This led to the game being somewhat overshadowed by new technological developments, the upcoming Final Fantasy X and the previous favorite Final Fantasy VII. Despite this, the game has gained prominence in recent years and is considered by many (including me) to be the best ever in the series.
The game has strong potential for a wide audience. For those unfamiliar with Final Fantasy 9, this will be a good introduction and for many who already know, it will be an immersion in a world they will love, says studio director Pierre Sismann.
Final Fantasy IX is about thief Zidane who kidnaps Princess Garnet with a mobile theater group. What begins as a crime leads to a journey across the world where they must work together to save the world from the forces of evil.
The game is now available in a number of different formats such as Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox consoles and PC in a graphically polished version with some new flexible features.
Which Final Fantasy is your favourite? Do you think the ninth can work as a TV cartoon series?
