Spotify is now launching a version of the Wear OS app that allows downloading songs for offline listening for those running Google’s operating system on their smartwatch.
In addition to downloading music, it will also be possible to stream music directly from WearOS watches that have their own network connection, which can be interesting if you want to listen to Spotify without having the phone with you. Spotify writes about the new version of the Wear OS app:
βIn the coming weeks, Spotify users will be able to play their favorite playlists, albums and podcasts using their Wear OS smartwatches. By putting Spotify on your wrist, you’ll be more free to run, dance, shop, cook, socialize β and control your music and podcasts. In addition, we are excited to unveil one of the most requested features by our users: the ability to download all your favorite music and podcasts to your smartwatch.β
Spotify’s new Wear OS app requires Wear OS 2.0. In order to be able to listen to music directly from the watch, it is also required to connect headphones directly to the watch.
