A few years after his parents divorced, 17-year-old Nicholas no longer wanted to live with his mother, Kate. He moves in with his father, Peter, and his partner, Beth. Peter does his best to balance work, his new baby, and Beth, and an offer of his dream job in Washington, all the while trying to treat Nicholas the way he wished his father had treated him. In his attempt to right old wrongs, he loses his grip on Nicholas.
