Several avalanches in northern Norway – four dead

The avalanches occurred in four different places in northern Norway, VG Norway reports. These are the sites of Kåfjård, Lyngen, Reinøya and Nordreisa. The newspaper confirmed that four people were killed. Two in Reinøya, one in Lyngen and one in Nordreisa.

At Lyngseidet in Lyngen, five people are said to have been swept away in an avalanche. One was confirmed dead while the other was being treated for serious injuries.

According to the local rescue service, about five tourists are from Italy.

In Renoia in Karlsøy municipality, two people were first reported missing, but later in the afternoon the rescue service confirmed that they had both been found dead.

Many media reported that a house and a barn were pulled into the sea with a slide. According to VG, the two were found dead at sea.
