Samsung is now offering Repair Mode on some of its Galaxy models in South Korea. The idea behind the new functionality is that users should be able to protect their photos, videos and other personal data when their mobile phone is handed over for repair.
To activate the mode, the user needs to set this in the phone settings and then restart the phone. The user seems to be somewhat able to choose which data on the phone should be protected from unauthorized access. By default, however, photos, videos and personal data are protected and only standard apps on the phone can be activated by unauthorized people.
Samsung is initially rolling out repair mode on Galaxy S21 series models in South Korea. However, the feature is expected to roll out to more models and other regions in the future. When or if we can see the repair mode function on Samsung mobile phones in Sweden, there is no information yet.
