We said before that the next Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 approx safely It will receive S Pen support, but it seems that the functionality has now been confirmed, thanks to one of them FCC document who discovered it 9to5Google.
The document, which describes Samsung’s upcoming S Pen Pro, lists a number of devices that the updated pen is said to support – one of which is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.5G.
In addition, the document reveals that the S Pen Pro is also compatible with Samsung S21 Ultra, Note 20 Ultra, Note 20, Note 20 Lite, Tab S7 Plus, Tab S7 FE, and Tab S6 that support One UI 3.1 or later.
It should be noted that although the document clearly shows the yet-to-be-announced Galaxy Z Fold 3 among the devices that support the S Pen Pro, it does not mention the Note 21, which is further evidence that Samsung will not issue a note this year.
So, S Pen support makes sense for the Z Fold 3
Given that Samsung is unlikely to release a Note mobile phone in 2021, it makes sense for the South Korean manufacturer to move the Note mobile’s most popular feature to what will instead be the company’s best premium model.
Fold owners have been asking for pen support for a long time and dedicated Note users will be looking for a new mobile to fill the void left by the Note 21’s absence, making the Galaxy Z Fold 3 the perfect choice to kickstart the S Pen functionality on a foldable device.
According to rumors circulating since August last year, Samsung is seriously considering combining its Fold series and Note series into one productivity-focused series.
Whether the traditional Note series will be permanently scrapped depends on how good this year’s experience was with the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
