A possible Russian invasion plan against the Baltics and Sweden, specifically Jutland, has been discussed on Russian state television, The Sun reports.
British tabloid The Sun. Today it is reported that Russian TV channel Rossiya 1 has shown a terrifying advantage with a possible invasion plan for the Baltic states and Jutland. The TV feature goes back to before the (last) Russian invasion of Ukraine.
A large map in the background shows an image of Gotland circled in the middle. colonel Igor Korochenko, Who often works as an “expert” on Russian TVAnd the She tells us that the conquest of the Baltic states could seem to be in advantage. The plan includes first eliminating the radar installations, and then landing Russian troops on Jutland with missile defense systems.
Gotland has long been seen as a potential target for a partial Russian invasion of Sweden, in the same way that Russia invaded Crimea from Ukraine. Such short wars are easier for the Russian army to carry out and give Sweden limited opportunities to respond.
The consequences of the Russian invasion of Jutland would be greater for Sweden than the mere loss of an important part of Swedish culture and 60,000 inhabitants. It is likely to have a strong negative impact on the Swedish economy by reducing the desire for foreign investment in the country.
For example, Ukraine’s GDP fell by 10% and 9% in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and foreign capital flowed out of the country. It will also make Sweden’s membership in NATO more difficult, because NATO usually does not receive countries with disputed territories – they want to deter conflict and not engage in ongoing conflict.
In recent weeks, Swedish defense has emerged as a priority issue in Sweden – and the government has held meetings with, among other countries, Finland and the United Kingdom.
In January, Sweden also reinforced Gotland’s defense with P4 soldiers at Skövde and Göta Trangremente (T2). The USA has also sent the robot hunter USS Forrest Sherman to Frihamnen in Stockholm, theoretically strengthening the area’s air defense.
