Crystal Palace announced that coach Roy Hodgson is in stable condition in hospital after falling ill during training on Thursday morning.
The palace canceled a press conference after the 76-year-old became ill.
It was widely reported on Thursday morning that Palace were set to sack Hodgson, with the club sitting in 15th place in the Premier League and five points above the relegation zone.
Palace faces Everton at Goodison Park in the English Premier League on Monday.
“Following the news that Roy Hodgson fell ill during today's training session, we can confirm that his condition is now stable and he is currently undergoing tests in hospital,” the club said on the X website, formerly known as Twitter.
“Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Roy for a speedy recovery.”
BBC Sport has learned that Hodgson is set to lose his job, with a strong candidate to succeed former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner.
Hodgson took charge of his 200th match as Palace coach earlier this week, as his side lost 3-1 at Selhurst Park to Chelsea.
The club has won three league games since beating Manchester United at Old Trafford in September and has lost 10 of its last 16 league games.
The former England coach is spending his second term with Palace, after returning to participate in the last 10 matches last season when he signed a short-term contract to take over from Patrick Vieira.
He led the club to 11th place in the table before agreeing to continue managing the team for the 2023-24 season.
Fans have raised banners in recent weeks calling for Hodgson's dismissal and expressed their frustration with the way the club is being run.
They expressed their displeasure when Eberechi Eze was substituted after 64 minutes in their FA Cup third-round defeat to Everton last month, with some fans at Goodison Park chanting “You don't know what you're doing.”
Olise lasted 11 minutes before suffering a recurrence of his hamstring problem.
Glasner (49 years old) lifted the Europa League title with Frankfurt in 2022 during his first season when he defeated Scottish Rangers on penalties in the final.
After leading Frankfurt to the knockout stages of the Champions League last year, the Austrian left the club at the end of the season with a year remaining on his contract, after 10 games without a win in the Bundesliga.
