Subscriptions no longer earn points.
Playstation Stars received two pieces of news. None of them are positive for the players. In short, the initiative allows players to complete challenges, collect digital collectibles, earn points for said challenges, as well as purchase games. Points can be used on select games and digital tools.
Previously, points were burned after two years, but now Sony has changed it to one year from the date the points were scored. Additionally, you will no longer receive points for subscription services such as PS Plus and EA Play. This was explained in an email sent to users:
As of October 24, 2024:
● New points you receive will expire at the end of the month plus 12 months from the date they appear in your PlayStation Stars account balance. Points earned before October 24, 2024 will continue to expire at the end of the month plus 24 months from the date they appear in your PlayStation Stars account balance.
As of March 1, 2025:
● The definition of eligible purchases will be updated to exclude all subscriptions acquired through the PlayStation Store (including new or renewing subscriptions to PlayStation Plus and other subscription services), meaning you will no longer earn points from subscription purchases.
