Saturday’s highlights with Philip Gad
Women’s handball premiere
Thomas Axnier’s gang ended up in a tough group with, among others, the finalists from the Rio Olympics, France and Russia. First up, Spain, a team that’s a bit stronger than Sweden on paper. Four of the six teams that qualified for the quarter-finals will mean that the road to the playoffs is wide open.
Canoe slalom – the most amazing sport
In 2004, I turned on the TV in my parents’ bedroom during a morning session of the Olympic Games in Athens. What appeared on the screen completely intrigued me. Crazy canoeists who are throwing themselves for life-threatening rapids on a slalom track?! I was sold immediately and since then. Swedish expat Eric Holmer leads the second race of qualifying.
Historic skateboard competition
It’s time for the Olympics without a doubt the coolest athletes to come out on stage. Skateboarding is for the first time in history in an Olympic game and here it will be turned off immediately. Today, street classes for men are scheduled, and then, on August 5, we keep our fingers crossed for Sweden’s Oscar Rosenberg Hallberg’s hope in the garden class.
Sunday 25 July
The guide contains all the times for the competitions and is stated in Swedish time.
Guaranteed Swedish participation is marked as such yellow.
