Now: US NATO plan crashes
A US military plane crashes in Norway while participating in NATO’s Cold Response, a major winter exercise.
A major rescue operation is currently underway south of Bodo in Norland, Norway, at Calvary Elevation.
Was found to be inactive
There will be four people on board and the original plan is that they will land again at 6pm tonight. With the plane never returning, it is said to have disappeared.
Rescue crews were involved in the search on the Orion flight, but the weather was challenging and expected to be even worse in the future, the primary rescue center told VG.

At 9.20pm, the plane was found to have crashed in Grotdalen, Bourne.
The plane involved in the crash belonged to the NRK type US V22 Osprey claims.
It is not yet known from which country the 4 passengers were on board.

Police and rescue crews are currently being dispatched to the scene of the crash. It is not yet known what the condition of the four passengers was.
– We have not reached the actual site, so you know nothing about the four who were on board. But rescue agency spokesman John Eskil Severnensen told NRK that we knew this was the scene of the crash.
The largest NATO exercise
The flight in question is part of the Gold Response, the largest NATO exercise, which will take place from March 14 to April 1 and will involve 35,000 participants from 28 different countries.
From Sweden, 1,600 soldiers and officers are participating.
Norwegian-led winter fitness
The Gold Response is a Norwegian-led winter exercise in which NATO allies and allies are invited to participate.
In addition to hosts Norway and NATO’s own forces, the United States, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Canada, Belgium and Sweden all have armed forces on its web site.
Additional countries will be added to the training.
Swedish participation

In addition to the Swedish ground divisions, the Air Force participates with units from Norbotan’s Air Flotilla, F21, Jazz 39 Gripen.
Updated information
The plane crashed about 1.8 kilometers from nearby buildings, the rescue service said. It is a steep terrain and a lot of forests and rescue patrols are sent primarily with the help of snowmobiles.
Air travelers must be residents of the United States.
