In 2017, construction began on the tallest building in the Nordics, Carltornet in Lindolmen, Gothenburg. Now the house is ready to receive its first residents. On Tuesday, the first families were given access to their homes and by the summer of 2024, all apartment owners should have moved in.
Carlatornet has a total of 611 apartments ranging from studios to penthouses of 370 square meters. Apartments from the fifth floor to 27 are now fully completed and ready to receive their owners in one of the condominium associations (out of four). Among the first to enter his new home is Armin Koroghi, who lives in the second apartment on the eighth floor.
– This is awesome, you’ve been waiting for this for a long time! There are many factors that make me want to live here: the fantastic location in Lindholmen, the modern accommodation with a wide range of services and the very cool building, says Armin.
In the next few weeks, about 90 families will move in, and by the end of the year, two of the four condominium associations will be fully occupied, totaling about 400 apartments. As houses are completed, relocation will continue. Karlatornet is expected to be fully occupied by the summer of 2024.
On site to welcome some prospective homeowners were Ola Serneke, CEO Serneke Invest and founder of Karlatornet, and Eric Selin, CEO of Balder, whose joint JV company owns Karlatornet.
– This is definitely an important milestone in the project, and now we are passing with people moving into the house. It feels a little surreal that we’re actually here now and it’s getting ready. I am very happy today on behalf of all the employees who are moving in first but who have worked for this for a long time. This is the result of good cooperation between many people whom I would like to thank today, says Ola Cernek.
– The move has started and the tower is starting to fill up with residents which is great. A building is not complete until it is filled with life and movement. It’s the wonderful work of the many people working to complete this unique building that brought us here and will become Gothenburg’s new landmark, says Eric Selin.
In addition to housing, Carltornet will have a hotel, restaurant and offices in its connecting platform buildings. On the 69th floor, an observation deck is being built where, in addition to an amazing view, the public can eat and drink well. Run by the Strawberry Group, the hotel is expected to open in summer 2024. The office building will be operational at the beginning of the year and the observatory in the second half of 2024.
