Known leaker Copy7chemy — who have shared historically reliable Nvidia information — claim that the Geforce RTX 5080 will be the first graphics card released in Nvidia's RTX 5000 series — also called Blackwell. With Kopite7kimi claiming, this is the third time in one month that a rumor of a new Blackwell card launch has begun to spread.
Earlier this year, it was rumored that the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 would be launched together in the fourth quarter of the year. This was followed by a new rumor that only the RTX 5090 will ship before the end of the year, while the rest of the Blackwell cards will be released in 2025.

Kopite7kimi's claim is consistent with the first rumor and is similar to how Nvidia released the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 in the fall of 2022. However, Jonas Thörnqvist, testing editor at SweClockers, isn't convinced we'll see the RTX 5080 first.
– Historically, Nvidia has always released the x080 card as the first model when changing generation. Now that's not the case with the RTX 4000 series, so I personally think we'll see the RTX 5090 as the first card at the end of the year, he says.
Rumor mongers can't agree on when Blackwell Cards will be released. The only ones who know which of the rumors are true are Nvidia themselves.
