The Global Padel Report 2023 study analyzed growth and trends in markets around the world. The report identifies a number of regions with great development potential. In Europe, Great Britain, Germany and France, but also in the USA and parts of the Middle East and Asia, the assessment is that ice sports will accelerate because that potential is there.
In markets such as Sweden and Spain, growth is more limited due to the fact that Padel is established and popular, although it is surrounded by many uncertainties, interest is still high.
It is pointed out that there are unique factors that contributed to the “Padel explosion here – such as pandemic restrictions, simple regulation, infrastructure, Swedish culture and Sweden’s large middle class. The exact same conditions don’t apply outside Europe.
– Our report highlights the growth of sports among players and the interest of investors to contribute to its development, especially when it comes to building courses and establishing clubs. The data gives us an optimistic outlook in both mature markets and emerging markets, says Elena Martin, senior director at Monitor Deloitte.
According to the report, the number of padel courts worldwide will increase to around 85,000 by 2026 – from around 40,000 today. The development of paddle courts increased by 28% in 2022, while the number of clubs increased by 24% during the same period. Spain remains the country with the most courses (15,300), followed by Italy (6,470) and Sweden (4,200). In 2022, a total of 6,600 paddle courts will be built in Europe.
