MediaTek has published the Dimensity 9000 chip dedicated to the flagship. The company is proud that the new Dimensity is TSMC’s first chip based on 4nm manufacturing technology.
Lower manufacturing technology can lead to increased performance and increased energy efficiency. The system circuit is also the first to support Bluetooth 5.3. Octa-core processor consisting of one Cortex-X2 core (3.05 GHz), three Cortex-A710 cores (2.85 GHz) and four Cortex-A510 cores (1.8 GHz).
MediaTek uses a 14MB cache, which is said to increase performance by seven percent compared to an 8MB cache. The chip supports LPDDR5x RAM with speeds of up to 7500Mbps. The graphic part of the Mali-G710 consists of ten cores. MediaTek offers an SDK for ray tracing, but it’s for software only.
The first batch of manufacturers equipped with MTK Dimensity 9000 include vivo, realme, Xiaomi, OPPO, Samsung, Motorola and OnePlus.

The chip’s image signal processor is capable of capturing 4K HDR video from three cameras simultaneously. The highest possible resolution of the cameras is 320 megapixels. Dimensity 9000 can save and play 8K video, including 8K AV1 video playback.
Current panels support WQHD+ resolution along with a 144Hz refresh rate, or FHD+ and a full 180Hz refresh rate. MediaTek has been the largest smartphone chip for several quarters of this year, but has so far been unable to measure its performance using Qualcomm’s system circuits.
The first phones with Dimensity 9000 will be launched in March of next year.
