Since Malmö secured their place in the SHL, it has been quiet on the club’s side, save for Karl Persson and Johan Olofsson’s contract extensions.
But sporting director Bjorn Leliander has now made his first signing to next season’s squad, Expressen has learned.
The 23-year-old Jacob Galvas, who has played for the Chicago organization for the past two seasons and played six games in the National Hockey League last season, will agree to the Skane club.
Galvas is supposed to add puck skills on the back end and have a solid skate.
A player you want to bring in to strengthen the backside.
Jakub Galvas is ready for Malmö
Galvas is a two-way return game that can be used in all forms of play.
During the season with Chicago’s farm team, the Rockford IceHogs, he averaged half a point per game from his starting quarterback.
Before moving to the USA, he played for HC Olomouc and also for the Finnish team Jukurit.
During his years in Europe he was on the Czech national teams and also played the JVM Double Championships for the Czech Republic.
The idea now is that he will continue his hockey journey in Skåne, and become Malmö’s first new acquisition for the 23/24 season, according to Expressen information.
