An anonymous-looking house
on Clapham Common is an opulent tribute to marble once inside, a listing
Just on the market at £9m the
six storey, six bedroom luxury mansion has a relatively plain sand-coloured brick
exterior. However, once inside the rooms are lavishly finished with marble
following a renovation by specialist Groves Natcheva.
According to the listing, one
room is clad with blue marble where ‘every slab of marble was chosen like an
art piece’, while the master bedroom suite features a fireplace with pink
marble accents and a bathroom that has every surface finished in marble. The property
also features the all-important swimming pool, needless to say finished in
marble, while the multi-level garden is also paved and walled with marble.
Rebecca Higgins, listing
agent and head of Knight Frank’s Clapham office comments: “When it comes to
design it’s definitely one of a kind for this area. You wouldn’t know from the
outside what an amazing house is behind the door.”
Although it’s an odd analogy, this is probably a marmite house as much as it is a marble one. For every prospective buyer who loves the extensive use of marble there will be many who probably won’t even consider viewing it.
