Lexi Alford will tour the world in an electric car – All about electric cars

Lexi Alford holds the title of the youngest person in the world to visit every country in the world. She was 21 years old at the time. Now, at 25 years old, she is embarking on a new adventure. You will travel around the world in an electric car.

It’s all a collaboration with Ford and you’ll then be driving Ford’s new electric Ford Explorer. During her adventure, Lexi will drive through more than 30 countries and six continents. Which will also hopefully give her the official world record for being the first to drive an electric car around the world.

As a role model, Lexie has 16-year-old Aloha Wanderwell, who in 1922 embarked on a round-the-world journey by car. Then she set off in a Ford Model T on an adventure that lasted seven years. It earned her the title of the first woman to circumnavigate the world by car.

-The story of Aloha Wanderwell is especially inspiring for women travelers, but encourages everyone to push their limits and explore new places. I’m proud to follow in the footsteps of this legendary pioneer, while showing what the electric future of overland travel could look like. There will be many obstacles and challenges, but that’s part of the fun of traveling and I’ll be documenting everything online, says Lexi Alford.

It’s not the first trip around the world in an electric car

Lexi isn’t the first to drive an electric car around the world. However, previous flights did not meet the criteria required to count as an official world record. Lexi must drive 28,968 kilometres, pass through two dots (exactly opposite points) on the globe, drive across at least five continents, and start and end in the same place.

– This is an epic journey to prove what is possible with an electric car, because we know that range and charging are the two main concerns people have when thinking about switching to an electric car. Lexie will put charging infrastructure to the ultimate test; If it can go around the world in an electric car, anyone can use one in Europe, every day, comments Martin Sander, head of Ford Model e Europe.

Lexi began her journey last Friday starting in Nice, France. It will be supported during the trip by a crew that includes security personnel, doctors, and a mechanical and electronic support team. Every day the team will conduct risk assessments for the next phase.

The Aloha Wanderwell’s journey will inspire and influence the course, but Lexie will ultimately make her own path to deal with weather, unpredictable terrain, or lack of shipping infrastructure.

Follow the adventure

Lexi will share her journey through Private YouTube channel. Ford Europe will also participate Adventure on his YouTube site. (At the time of writing there are no new updates.)
