Lamborghini’s new electric flagship has a V12

Flag of Lamborghini Since its inception in 1964 Under the hood was a V12. That trend is now confirmed to continue with the upcoming Lamborghini LB744, which will get a V12 and three electric motors.

LB744 is the internal designation for the Aventador’s upcoming successor, which will be unveiled later this year, joining the Italian marque as it turns 60.

Green is a performance monster

Lamborghini has revealed that the new model will make 1,015 horsepower, compared to just 1,000 horsepower in markets that use British units of measurement, such as the UK and the US.

The torque figure of the new 6.5-liter V12 is 725 Newton meters, while the electric motors are rated at 350 Newton meters each. However, the overall system effect is not reported.

At the front, you’ll find two electric motors, while the last electric motors are found in the gearbox, a brand new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Aventador Ultimae – Compared to the last Aventador model – the new LB744 emits 30 percent less carbon dioxide. The battery in the LB744 is 3.8 kWh and can be fully charged in half an hour from a regular outlet.

If you use the V12 engine instead, you can fully charge the battery in six minutes. This is the same principle adopted in the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance.

Flag with 12 cylinder swan song

The newly developed V12 engine is 17kg lighter than the one in the Aventador. On its own, it pumps out 825 horsepower — without the aid of supercharging — and revs all the way up to 9,500 rpm.

Power goes down the hill through all four wheels – even in full electric mode, which is new for Lamborghini. However, the car can only be driven with front wheel drive.

As with the plug-in hybrid version of the Range Rover, the gearbox has four-wheel drive thanks to an electric motor.

It’s not clear when the launch will take place, but it’s not far off, Lamborghini announces.
