The Los Angeles Lakers defeated defending champion Golden State 122-101 in the sixth quarterfinal of the NBA playoffs. Thus, the Lakers won the series 4-2 in games. All qualifying rounds are best-of-seven.
This is the first time since 2014 that Golden State has qualified for the playoffs without qualifying for the finals.
Although Lakers star Anthony Davis suffered a head injury during the previous match with the Warriors, on Thursday night Swedish time, he was able, along with LeBron James, to lead his team to a real crushing of the defending champion.
Curry is a top scorer
Golden State was never allowed to get into the game, and the Lakers led — by as much as 24 points — from the first draft to the final whistle.
Stephen Curry was the Warriors’ top scorer with 32 points, followed by Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James with 30 points. Lakers’ Anthony Davis has the most rebounds – 20.
The Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA title in 2020 and, along with Boston, have the most league titles – 17 each. Golden State has seven championships and is the third most successful club in NBA history.
Since the 2014/15 season, Golden State has missed the playoffs only twice and reached the Finals the remaining six times. Since then, Golden State has won four of the six Finals, most recently last year.
Miami on
The Lakers will next meet in the semi-finals with the Denver Nuggets.
Earlier on Friday, US time, Miami beat the New York Knicks in the East Coast Series quarterfinals by a score of 4-2 in games.
Miami won the sixth meeting between the two teams 96-92 and will face Philadelphia or Boston in the semifinals.
