Stockholm – 14 September 2023: Jaguar plays a key role in opening one of Europe’s largest charging stations for electric vehicles. The facility is close to many of the company’s factories and office facilities.
Located at the National Exhibition Center (NEC) in Birmingham, England, the station was inaugurated by Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt. The facility will accommodate 180 individual charging points, including 16 300 kW DC fast chargers for 300 spaces and 150 7 kW AC charging points. The facility is powered by renewable energy sources, including a roof made of solar panels.
In August 2023, 32 Jaguar I-PACEs were deployed simultaneously to test the facility’s infrastructure related to energy delivery, fast charging and vehicle connectivity. The NEC Hub is one of over 500,000 charging stations in Europe that you can find with the Jaguar Charging app.
Rawdon Glover, Managing Director: “Jaguar is an all-electric car manufacturer and a leader in providing customer-friendly solutions that enable convenient and fast charging. We are therefore delighted to be working with EV Network. The public charging availability of electric vehicles is at the heart of the Midlands motorway network and is close to many of our facilities.”
Since its launch, the Jaguar I-PACE has received more than 90 international awards, including a historic treble at the 2019 World Car Awards, where the model won World Car Design of the Year, World Green Car and, not least, World Car of the Year. A year that reinforced the I-PACE’s position as a leading all-electric performance SUV.
