Britain's exit from the European Union
Brexit will lead to political independence, restrictive immigration policies and economic prosperity. So far, none of the promises have been fulfilled, as Göteborgs-Posten points out in an editorial.
Breaking out of years of political and bureaucratic integration with the European Union does not happen overnight, Adam Kooijman wrote in an op-ed for the Gothenburg Post. Meanwhile, people from other countries continue to flock to the British Isles, and it is understood that it is not possible to completely reset any country's immigration policy.
But the British economy should have taken off by now, says Adam Kooijman, who points out, among other things, that few companies are choosing to be listed on the London Stock Exchange.
– The Conservative government was unable to achieve anything positive from the divorce with the European Union. It is not as if the political will is lacking, but it is clear that turning Britain into a European Singapore is not that easy.
