I have lived in Sweden for 34 years, Turkey for 10 years and Great Britain for 3 years and I have stayed in all these countries, but London is the city that welcomed me with open arms and tolerated me the best of all.

I am registered in Sweden and have no plans to go anywhere else. Also, I’m a Swedish citizen, but that doesn’t stop these racist trolls from wanting to dump me because I don’t look Swedish and have a complicated name.

I don’t identify myself as Swedish. This is not because of my complicated name, but because I moved to Sweden in 1986 at the age of 10. Although I have lived in this country for 37 years, I do not know all the Swedish norms and values.

Some consider me Swedish or Turkish. I don’t need a label and this, especially if I want others to assign me my label. It is liberating not to belong to any group that seems too important to some.

There are certainly people who call themselves Swedish after 37 years in Sweden, despite their brown hair and brown eyes, complex names with a different cultural background than Swedish people. That is their right, who can take that feeling away from them?

Being equal before the law and treated and respected equally by fellow human beings will go a long way in creating a good society.

A critical thinking individual poses a challenge to societies that cannot deal with questions of ethics and values. I analyze and question Swedish and Turkish society. This applies in big and small ways.

My experience is that Swedish society is as restrictive and intolerant of deviance as Turkish society. This seems to be the case for many communities that are oppressed or homogenized. These communities like to believe they are better than their critics, but that is rarely true.

Of course, not everyone is so restrained They want to fire me. The majority community in Sweden has lovely people who give me a lot of love and support. I am well aware that these racist trolls are often heard on social media. They usually live in their own bubble and rarely have any close friends who are immigrants.

Racists’ words don’t offend me. It’s not my fault, I’m not writing this article to garner any kind of sympathy, no. I’m not sorry, but I feel sad.

It’s a great tragedy that people are so incredibly afraid of change that they want to drive anyone who has a different opinion out of the country. Like the desire to destroy ideas, values, thoughts and people unlike oneself.

Homogeneous societies stagnate, they do not develop, They are not challenged by new perspectives and why anyone would want to live in such a society is beyond me. Knowing that everything is the same as it always was gives you a sense of security, I understand. Predictable. Life becomes easier. Such a society is for security thugs.

The earth spins and days turn into years, and if you don’t keep up, you can get very dizzy in the ball. This may explain why pensioners see dangers around every corner with the argument that “it was better before” because they do not recognize themselves in their daily lives.

Society in general has evolved and changed, which is often unpredictable for older generations, while young people throw themselves straight into something new and see it as an adventure. This happens regardless of whether a country has immigrants or not.

Every society has its own group of people People who have difficulty adjusting to new things. It will be interesting to see if there are any common traits between these racist trolls and those who always oppose changes like new organization in the workplace. Or because the bus stop is moved 500 meters away so more people can access public transport or gays can adopt children. Those who believe that the new, foreign is always scary.

These racist trolls who would happily kick me out of the country if given the chance unfortunately didn’t make the trip I got. They do not live in different cultures, classes, values ​​and norms to create a pre-understanding that change is harmless.

That perspective enriches and nurtures each individual, which is why I welcome abroad so happily, even if it can be challenging at times. I personally feel like every day is a boring, predictable Monday. Differences are the beauty of life.

I am a challenge for security jockeys. Because I am different and a stranger. I imbue these people with my presence, whether they like it or not.

What they don’t understand is that they are in the middle of a journey and they need me, Sweden and I will enrich their lives as Sweden did and I will enrich mine even more.

Sweden needs me, so my answer to all those who think I should go “home” is unequivocal:
