This finding provides hope for designing innovative therapies that fight cancer by stimulating cell signaling pathways that promote regeneration of healthy cells and thus suppress the growth of mutant cells, he says. Current cancer treatment strategies tend to inhibit cell division and may inadvertently impair the ability of mosaic tissues to maintain their natural defenses against cancer cells.
