On Sunday, Sweden's women punched their Olympic ticket with a 52-8 thrashing of Great Britain.
It is now clear what opposition awaits during the summer championships in Paris.
With only Sweden and France remaining in the draw, the host nation, the reigning world champions, had the chance to pick their team.
France had to choose a team
Then the captain of the French national team picked an “easy” Group B on paper – meaning Sweden finished in Group A.
There they will meet neighbors Norway and Denmark.
– In the beginning it was difficult. But now that it has come down a bit, it is still good. Jamina Roberts tells SVT Sport that if we do the job, we can get a humane quarter-finalist, which would be great.
Apart from that, Sweden will face Germany, Slovenia and South Korea in the group stage.
During the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, Sweden fell in the bronze medal match against Norway.
The men escaped to France and Denmark
On the men's side, Sweden were drawn in the same group as Spain, Croatia, Germany, Slovenia and Japan.
– Whichever group we came in, it would have been tough. At the Olympics, advancing from the group and performing in the quarterfinals is more important, and if you do that, you will face stiff opposition, Federation President Glenn Solberg said on the federation's website.
As a result, Sweden's men will not have to face France and Denmark, two teams that met in the Olympic final three years ago, in the group stage. France won the match.
