Just in time for Black Friday and Christmas Eve, Google’s email service Gmail is launching a new functionality with which to track a status package you’ve requested.
Gmail’s new package tracking feature will recognize and aggregate the tracking numbers from different mail providers for the user so that they can easily get an overview of their upcoming packages. Google writes about the feature:
For orders with tracking numbers, Gmail will prominently display the current delivery status in the inbox list view and in the summary card above individual emails. Package tracking will be available across most major US shipping companies and will provide important details at a glance, such as the date of arrival Estimated and Status – eg “Label created,” “Arrived tomorrow,” or “Delivered today.”
Initially, it appears that the Gmail package tracking feature will only be available to Gmail users in the United States. However, it’s not entirely impossible for it to appear here too in the future if Google learns to handle mail from Swedish mail providers as well.
