Giant Miss El Swedy in curling – publication: “Disaster”

The Beijing Olympics will not open until Friday. But the games actually started secretly on Wednesday with curling and my pairs mixed. Sweden, represented by Oscar Eriksson and Almeida de Waal, faced Great Britain in the first round.

Before the tournament, the couple was clear that the goal is the medal, in an interview with radio sports.

The medal would be nice to have. We have chances. But Almeida de Vale said before the tournament that there were many good teams.

But the opening match at the Olympics was no fun story for Sweden. Sweden ended up at a disadvantage early on, had to fight back and tied the score after just over half the match.

In the seventh of eight total rounds, everything went wrong for Sweden. After several weak stones, Great Britain won the round 3-0 and advanced to take an 8-5 lead in the final round.

On Eurosport’s broadcast, commentators drew sharp criticism for Oscar Ericsson’s stones in the penultimate round.

– These are two disastrous stones for Oscar, says Eurosport commentator on the broadcast from the match.

The eighth and decisive round was dramatic. Sweden had to take three points to force a judging round. Before Almeida de Val’s last stone, Sweden had a chance to secure three points for Sweden, but their stone missed the British stone in the middle of the nest.

Instead of 3-0 in the round, Great Britain won the eighth round with a score of 1-0 and the match with a total of 9-5.

– It’s a disaster, says the commentator of the last Swedish stone.

Sweden will meet the Czech Republic on Thursday evening, Swedish time.
