Europe vs. South America.
England vs Brazil. The winner of the European Commission versus the winner of the Copa America in the final known as “Finalissima”.
Nice first goal
England then took control immediately, in front of a packed Wembley Stadium. The “Lionesses” methodically rolled the ball and created half the chances. But after about 20 minutes of play, they achieved the goal. It was a really beautiful attack as the players passed the ball quickly with one touch until Elaine Toone put it into the net.
-What an attack pattern, it's so beautiful! Look at this goal, it gives you goosebumps. And that's not far from perfect, says SVT commentator Chris Harenstam.
Brazil came out much fitter in the second half. With the hour mark, England's 1-0 lead was fragile as Brazil created scoring chances. Brazil kept up the pressure, but England held on.
England won on penalties
Until minute 93.
Mary Earps in goal was unable to kick the ball and the return went straight to Andressa Alves who pushed the ball into the goal.
No extra time was played in the final, but the match went straight to penalties. There, England claimed the first Finalissima Cup at women's level after Chloe Kelly scored the decisive penalty kick. The same Kelly who decided the EC final last summer.
