The situation has been relatively quiet on former US President Donald Trump since he left the White House on January 20 in favor of Joe Biden.
Weeks before Trump’s four-year term ends, he was suspended indefinitely from social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, after storming the Capitol on January 6.
After that, Trump’s Twitter account was closed, Which was largely the president’s main channel of communication at the time, was permanently disrupted.
Since then, the 74-year-old has reached out mostly by posting press releases through the official website, and in parallel with planning his comeback in the social media arena.
On Tuesday, the new platform was launched “from the office of Donald J. Trump,” which Trump adviser Jason Miller described as a kind of Twitter surrogate.
Visitors can “like” posts On the site and share it on other platforms. However, it is not possible to comment or interact in any other way on the platform, which is part of Donald Trump’s official website.
The content largely consists of unsourced quotes, which either praise Donald Trump or criticize democrats or democratic initiatives. There are also several unfounded allegations of electoral fraud, similar to those made by Trump when the elections were held last year.
The platform also collects several press releases previously published by Donald Trump on other channels.
On Wednesday, Facebook is expected to announce whether Trump’s suspension will continue.
