Diving promise Västerås has been selected in the junior national team

Vilma Osk Ekstedt competes for the Swiss national junior national team.

VGF Swimhop’s Vilma Ósk Ekstedt wears the blue and yellow suit. She was selected for the junior national team that will represent Sweden in the 8-nation international competition in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Thanks to good results in winter competitions, 13-year-old Vilma Usk Ekstedt (14 later this year) has now been selected for the junior national team.

The eight nations will be decided on the weekend of April 15-16, a competition in which participants from Great Britain, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, France, Norway and Sweden will compete in the 1 and 3 meter events. It is an individual competition and a team competition where the best country is selected.

– The last time we had a representative from Vasteras in this competition was in 2018 when Emma Johansson competed for the national team, says Joachim Nyström, head coach of VGF Simhopp.

In December, Vilma Usk Ekstedt made her debut with the national team in connection with the Nordic Junior Championships in Bergen Vilma, where she exceeded all expectations and won gold, silver and bronze.

– Now the training will be tough for the Eight Nations, as some new, more difficult jumps will enter the competition series, says Nystrom.
