We all understand that it is absolutely necessary to ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region in the long term, says Biden.
eyes on china
Washington and its allies are looking for ways to distance China’s growing power and influence, particularly the military buildup, pressure on Taiwan, and deployments in the disputed South China Sea.
The three leaders did not mention China and senior Biden administration officials, who told reporters before the announcement, said the move was not intended to counter Beijing.
However, the Chinese embassy in Washington responded by saying that countries “should not exclusively build blocs that target or harm foreign interests.”
