Boris Johnson was escorted from Parliament

Boris Johnson was escorted from Parliament

The vote fell to 354–7. A total of 118 Conservatives voted in favor of the report’s conclusions, with 225 MPs abstaining, including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

As a result, Boris Johnson will be expelled from Parliament – he will no longer have free access to the Westminster Parliament building in London – as is usually the case for former British MPs.

Had Boris Johnson not resigned as an MEP earlier this month, he too would have been suspended for 90 days. The resignation came after a committee inquiry concluded that reports he made to Parliament about a series of meetings that breached pandemic rules were misleading.

Johnson has always vehemently denied that he lied about the pandemic parties, and called the panel’s investigation a “bad investigation.”

Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was not present during the vote, according to several British media reports. Earlier, Sunak met Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson (M).

Labor leader Keir Starmer, who called Johnson’s behavior “unacceptable”, had earlier called on Chung to show his leadership by attending Monday’s vote.
