A preliminary study has been launched to see if the conditions exist to stage the 2030 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
– life is changing. Looking back a little bit, says Bjorn Ericsson, I didn’t think I’d be sitting here about it.
– At the same time, it happens at a time that can be a bit difficult. Yesterday, the Nordic countries came out and scolded the IOC based on the starting point of letting in people from Russia and Belarus. We have these kinds of questions, but that’s not an argument against a preliminary study. It would be wrong to say “we won’t find out if we can do it” when there is an opportunity.
“We are good at sustainability”
Eriksson, a spokesman for the Swedish Sports Confederation, points to the IOC’s new process in selecting host countries, where great emphasis is placed on sustainability.
– We are known to be good at arranging. We are good at sustainability. There will be new ways to find and deliver hits to the heart our best competitive affiliate has never campaigned. There’s a chance every now and then we have to go along with what the godfather once said in his movies: I’m going to make you an offer you just can’t resist. This is what we work for.
You want to use the basics in the previous application
The last time Sweden applied to participate in the Olympic Games was the Winter Games in 2026. In the end it was the match between Milan-Cortina and Stockholm/ER and after a vote the Italians won.
Now they hope to be able to use the basics in this app.
– If I lose a game last Sunday, I look at how we can win next Sunday, and we believe we can do that. Then whether that’s enough, we don’t know — but we think it is, says Erickson.
