We won’t find a body temperature sensor on the Apple Watch Series 7, but that could change this fall when Apple introduces the Apple Watch Series 8, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a series of tweets, Kuo wrote that Apple initially aimed to actually introduce the feature with the Series 7 last year, but had to scrap the feature because the algorithms used simply weren’t good enough (these are required to get accurate measurements from the wrist). Now, however, the company may be ready to ship functionality with the Series 8, Kuo believes, if they get access to the algorithms, that is. He also says that Samsung has experienced similar issues with the Galaxy Watch’s body temperature thermometer and that it may skip the feature in the upcoming Galaxy Watch 5.
It remains to be seen if Kuo is right that we will be able to take a cadence to see if we have a fever right off the clock later this year.
