There was no straight path to where Anthony Joshua is today. Britt had a troubled upbringing and fought frequently as a teenager.
In 2011, he was caught when police found cannabis in his car, which initially led to his expulsion from Great Britain’s Olympic team. However, Joshua was allowed to return to the team and represented Great Britain the following year – and won Olympic gold.
– If you can’t get rid of the distractions in your life, you won’t be able to fully focus on being the best you can be as an athlete. After I quit smoking I was able to grow, he tells the BBC.
In addition to gold, Anthony Joshua also has two heavyweight world titles on his resume. He has lost only three of 29 professional bouts in his career.
Earned 500 million – lives with his mother
This has led the 34-year-old to keep his feet on the ground when it comes to finances. In fact, he reportedly earned around SEK 550 million.
But if you thought that he lives in a luxury house in England, you are totally wrong. He lives in a second house – with his mother.
– In our culture, we grew up in our own family home. We support our parents. Why should I leave my mother for a girl?, he tells the BBC.
He continues:
– Family is the most important thing. If a girl joins me, she marries not only me but my entire family.
