Amazon is on a roll in the UK. Last week it was announced that 300 workers from an Amazon warehouse in Coventry were to go on strike. The reason, according to the trade union GMB Union, is a very low wage increase of 5 percent to SEK 133 an hour.
According to BBC Staff should have witnessed difficult situations by constant observation and time tracking when going to the toilet.
If you stop working, they want to know why. If you take a break for more than two minutes, they can watch it on their computer, one of the workers and a GMB member, Garfield Hilton told the news channel.
Amazon, in turn, says that’s not the case. They say they have a system that “recognizes good performance,” according to a spokesperson.
“If employees are not meeting their performance targets, we encourage coaching to improve their performance,” said the same spokesperson.
“maybe early”
A total of 1,500 people work at Amazon’s Coventry warehouse and according to GMB this could be the start of a major nationwide strike.
Coventry may be the beginning, but it won’t be the end. Amanda Gearing, GMB’s co-ordinator, said: “We know there are staff at other warehouses who feel the same way.
