Swedish electric car maker Einride has received an order from British company Pepsico for two trucks to transport chips in central England.
Pepsico is best known for its Pepsi, but it is globally big on beverages and snacks. It’s also the right snack part when two trucks are now being ordered from Swedish electric vehicle maker Einride, according to reports. CNBC.
The two trucks will transport PepsiCo chips to Walker in central England.
attractive to both
The deal is attractive to both parties. Ainreid is gaining a foothold in Great Britain and Pepsico is taking steps to meet its climate goals around reducing CO2 emissions.
Practically speaking, Einride vehicles will begin transportation for Pepsico in July.
Einride will establish its own so-called freight transport network in the UK for this, according to the CEO Robert Falk, Allowing logistics partners to “optimize routes, improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, while providing real-time visibility and transparency into the delivery process.”
different model
Unlike Tesla, which sells trucks it built itself, Einride trucks are made by partners like Daimler and Scania, and the company’s focus is on developing in-vehicle technology.
Falck compares Einride’s model to Apple, which designs its own iPhones but contracts electronics maker Foxconn to manufacture them.
Network expansion
Ainreid says his UK mobility network will start in central England, initially with a route from Leicester to Coventry, and later extend along some of the UK’s busiest motorways linking major cities to the capital.
The company aims to reduce the distance driven on fossil fuels by just over 40,000 miles a year, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1,623 tonnes over three years and put the UK on a path to net zero, it wrote in a statement.
