Programs and applications
There are many AI applications that you can use to create your own images from text. But often they are fake – and you yourself get stuck signing up.
The new buzzword right now is “AI,” and a whole host of apps are available for download that claim to use artificial intelligence to create or edit images. So-called “generative AI” where images are created from scratch using, for example, text input – so-called “guided” – is now common.
But you have to pay attention. Many apps are not what they claim to be, many apps only “almost” do what they claim to do, while others don't even work. Some apps are free and others cost money, but when we look around at how they work, you often have to pay for an app that claims to create beautiful high-resolution images by writing what the images should contain – but once you pay, you have to pay extra for functionality. Certain.
For example, the 161MB iPhone app DaVinci – AI Photo Generator is free to download but allows in-app purchases. Online, you can read about people who paid for an app but couldn't use it when it broke, or they received a subscription without realizing it themselves.
The AI Headshot Generator app is another example where, according to reviews, the app crashes all the time, despite costing $10 per week – something users found out after a while.
This is how you do it so you don't get scammed
There are many examples of fake apps, and by checking the app before purchasing it, you can reduce the risk of being scammed. Checking what users are writing about the app you're downloading is one way, but even better is to Google the app name and add “review” for Swedish apps or “review” for English apps, for example “DaVinci AI Photo Generator review” – to see what Written by other users, websites, or blogs about the app.
Also read the description of the app before downloading it to know if there is any subscription model for the app and how it can be charged, as well as how to terminate it. For you with Android and Google Play, you can cancel a purchase within a certain period of time, and for Iphone and AppStore, you can submit a report for a refund.
There are also special pages to check the rating and authenticity of apps. For example justuseapp.com Is it possible to search for specific apps or for example “ai” to find apps and see ratings and reviews – something that can save time and money.
Often times, friends will also show you apps they have used that you want to download yourself. You can imagine a friend's recommendation acting as a kind of validation for the app — but then ask if your friend has actually checked out the app before installing it.

Applications that spread quickly
Kamera & Bild previously wrote about photo apps that do what they say they do and don't. In 2019, we talked about the ubiquitous FaceApp, where you can see yourself as old by uploading a photo — and upon installation, the company behind the app gets the freedom to use your photos and information for whatever it wants.
