According to the British government's website, from April next year, Swedes will need to apply for a digital entry permit, known as an ETA, to travel to Great Britain.
A permit is required for everyone entering the country, adults and children, and costs 10 pounds (corresponding to approximately 135 Swedish kroner). According to officials, an application or application made online is usually approved within three days.
– We Swedes love London, it's a big destination, so it means a big change, says travel expert Lottie Knudsen TV4.
Already today, the UK requires ETAs for citizens of many countries in the Middle East. Earlier in the year, the requirement to use it was extended to a larger number of countries in the rest of the world, and in April it will also be required for travelers from most countries in Europe.
– It means cost and more hassle for passengers. I think it will be received with some surprise as so little has been reported. Knutson tells TV4 that this will require major information efforts.
