A tour of Great Britain dominates spring with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra – Geffel Dagblad

Three years ago, the Gävle Orchestra came out and met an international audience for the last time. Then, in the spring of 2020, the orchestra barely made it home before the pandemic hit hard and countries locked down. However, the Gävle Symphony Orchestra managed to complete its tour and was met with acclaim.

Even if there is a mid-season hiatus with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra, the home audience can still join the tour. As a warm-up before departure, a concert with the soloist that is the name of the label awaits during the tour on March 9: violinist Nemanja Radulović. The orchestra is conducted during the tour by former conductor Jaime Martin.

The program includes music by Khachaturian, Tchaikovsky, Grieg and Sibelius. The audience also gets acquainted with Gävle’s composer Bo Linde (even at home, the orchestra continues to invest in the local composer, apart from the tour, Linde will also be performing on January 26).

Cheltenham, Edinburgh and London are some of the cities in Great Britain that the Gävle Symphony Orchestra will be visiting this time around. or “Swedish Orchestra – Gävle Symphony Orchestra”, the name given to the orchestra on its international adventures.

But even if the tour could be considered the Gävle Symphony Orchestra’s big spring event, the program also awaits on the home stage. The Game Year that Program Director Roza Nolceva spoke about in an article last fall continues, and just like last fall, nature is a recurring theme in programming.

Among the guests at the Gävle Konserthus are among the conductors and soloists names who are also present at Sweden’s largest classical music venues.

– The audience gets flabbergasted as high as that of Sweden’s largest orchestras. I am very proud of that, says Rosa Nolcheva.

Among the soloists coming to Gavle during the spring, we can mention Nemanja Radulović, Stefan Jaciu (violin), Peter Moore (trombone) and Behzod Abduraimov (piano) who have already been presented. Case Scaglione, Fabio Biondi, and Gemma Neo are three of the guest conductors.

It’s not just the stars that visit: in recent years the Gävle Symphony Orchestra has also highlighted its musicians, and this spring (January 26), clarinetist Christina Lindby will step forward in the concert. “Mozart’s Linz Symphony”, where she plays “Pezzo concertante” by Bond.

The program features great names of classical music such as Mozart, Sibelius and Haydn, but there will also be newly written and rarely performed works for Gävle audiences to discover. On January 26 we will hear the premiere of Charles Yves’s “Three Places in New England”, on February 23 there will be the premiere of Ida Moberg’s “Sunrise”, and on April 6 the European premiere of Danny Howard’s Trombone Concerto awaits.

We’ll be back for what to expect at the end of the season on May 11th. The Gävle Symphony Orchestra is still secret and will reveal its season finale in the spring.
