Tennis player Emil Rossofori reached the second round in Canada. After defeating Stan Wawrinka, there is a match against world number one Hubert Hurkacz in the program.

The Masters tournament began in Montreal and in the first round Emil Rossofori defeated former star Stan Wawrinka 2-1 in sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-3).

– That was a really tasty victory. Since childhood, I have followed Stan and watched him win three Grand Slam titles. He’s an insanely good player and I have a lot of respect for him,” Rossofori told STT.

Rossofori introduced the match as the match went to the third set and clinched the set.

– I was able to raise my serve in the third set. Looks like he made the decision, says the 23-year-old Finn, and I got some free points there.

Wawrinka, who just turned 37, won the Australian Open in 2014, the French Championship in 2015 and the US Open in 2016.

In recent years, however, Wawrinka has been plagued by injury problems. In bookmakers’ papers, Russofori went into the match as the favorite and in that sense the victory was not surprising.

In the second round, Russofori meets Paul Herbert Hurkacz, ranked 10th in the world. Not an impossible opposition given that a week ago in Washington, Russovory defeated Hurkacz 2-0 in sets (6-4, 7-6).

– It was a high profile match. He’s made a lot of mistakes, so he’s probably doing everything he can to be well prepared and able to perform.

– After all, he is a top 10 player. But I’m going to win and I intend to use the same tactics as last time,” says Rossovori.

Hurkacz qualified directly for the second round in Montreal.

Shortly after Midsummer, the Poles suffered a crushing first round loss at Wimbledon against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Last week’s match against Russia is the only match the Poles have played in a month and a half.
